How to create a teal orange photo filter using only Photoshop camera raw without a preset

Here is a quick guide on how you can change colors or create a photo filter on your own.
Without further ado lets start!

1. Open the image on Camera Raw (if you have).
2. Slightly adjust the settings depending on your image exposure.

3. In tone curve, adjust the highlights and shadows. I usually increase the shadow for the details to show up and highlights to bring glow to the image.

4. For the color manipulation, go to the HSL/Grayscale tab.
5. Play with Hue. Here is the tip on how to achieve the teal and orange photo effect:
As you see in the photo, we have blue and orange colors.
Now, adjust the ORANGE/RED/YELLOW slider until you found your desired color. (I adjusted it to left to turn the orange into red orange. For the teal color, adjust the blue and aqua sliders to the light blue shades until it turned teal.

6. Click on the Saturation next to the Hue. Now you can adjust the colors’ intensity. If you want a saturated color, bring the slider to the right and if not, bring the slider to the left.

7. The luminance will brighten the color of your image. This is my favorite setting when editing with skin tones. In this photo, I slightly brighten up (slide to the right) the aqua and blue color.

8. You can also adjust the hue on the Camera Calibration tab. I like to play with the slides until I get my desired color. In this photo, I desaturate the red primary a bit since it turned out to be very red when I adjust the blue primary.
9. Once you are done, click ‘Open Image’ to open it on Photoshop.

10. If you do not have Camera Raw, you can edit it on PS. You can also adjust its hue/saturation. The advantage of using Camera raw (with a raw file) is you have more control on the image. On the adjustments setting in PS, click the selective color.

11. Again, play with the colors. I also adjust the white/highlights and increase the cyan slider to make the color white into a teal. Same with the black.
12. You can also adjust the saturation if it’s too saturated for you. You’re done!
